What size pictures should I use?
Important Picture Size Information
Managing photo size is crucial
since it directly impacts not only upload times for you, but download times for
renters. Perfect Place will convert all
uploaded images to a pixel size of 350 by 350 when displaying the property….

…and 100 by 100 pixels for
the thumbnail image used in the search result listings.

Important Picture Size Points to Know
1.
Large images,
especially those over 1 Meg work against you and add a lot of upload and
download time with no advantage to you or the renter.
2.
There is no limit
on the number of pictures you can upload.
However…..
a.
A single upload
cannot exceed 10 Megs (9 Megs limit is a better stopping point to use).
b.
You can ADD no
more than 20 pictures at one time, regardless of size: however, you can do
multiple (ADD) and (UPLOAD) for a single property.
3.
No one picture
can exceed 2MB in size. (Due to a limit on our upload utility which conforms to
limits many IP services place on file uploads.)
2MB is a large picture, but it is more common with the newer
cameras. You can see the size of any
picture by looking at its statistics on the Windows file/folder handler –
EXPLORE.
4.
Google offers an
excellent photo program that will allow you to reduce picture sizes as a
group. The program name by Google is Picasa
Web Albums and is found for download at www.google.com.
A
brief outline of how this may look to you is as follows….
1.

2. Choose
.
3. This is an excellent program (We are not saying
the best, because no one would get away with that!)
to handle photos and resize them if you do not already have another way. It is free to download and use.
Please note that the web page that comes up may differ from the one shown above depending on many things related to Google that no one can second guess – but it will provide the same result.

4. In the above steps, the photos displayed are in the
folder you chose on your computer. One
style for how you want your folders to look is shown on the top left of the

There are many options to Picasa and for those who love this stuff - it is fun. For the rest of us, we have to learn basics only and then we can get most of our work done.
Perhaps there can be too many pictures,
but not fully showing your property is a mistake. Renters need both inside and outside
pictures. To leave one group out is a
serious error in renting your property.
Inside pictures must include major areas like bedrooms, gathering rooms,
bathrooms and kitchens, if available.
Outside pictures should include the property and some surrounding
area. If pools, docks or other major
features are listed, include at least one picture of each.
